UK Immigration




General

The Home Office is the government department which regulates and administers UK Immigration Law.

European Economic Area - its citizens enjoy many privileges in entering the UK, largely because of the provisions for freedom of movement embodied in the Treaty of Rome which established the European Economic Community

Members of the European Community include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain , Sweden and the UK. Iceland and Norway also enjoy immigration privileges.

Most other countries are subject to full immigration controls and citizens of some require entry clearance at British Embassies abroad before traveling to the UK - these are visa nationals and include (at January 1995) the following countries:
